Bus Crash in Iran Kills 28 Pakistani Pilgrims: Faulty Brakes to Blame

A tragic bus crash in Iran claimed the lives of 28 Pakistani pilgrims.

The accident happened on Tuesday night in Yazd, a province in central Iran. The crash was caused by faulty brakes, according to an early police investigation reported by Reuters.

Later, a local official on the state TV said that this injured another 23 people. Seven of these are in serious condition.

Some pilgrims were on a bus trip from Pakistan to Iraq for a big religious event. Like, 53 people were on the bus when it crashed! They were from different cities in Pakistan, like Larkana and Ghotki.

Among those who died, 11 were women and 17 were men, said Ali Malekzadeh, the crisis management director.

The bus caught fire near the Dehshir-Taft checkpoint in Iran, about 681 km (423 miles) south of Tehran, the capital.

The bus crashed because the driver messed up, probably because he didn’t know the roads, was driving too fast, and the bus had some issues. Now, the President of Pakistan is trying to help get the bodies of the people who died back home and assist those who got hurt.

Interior Minister Moshin Naqvi said, “We are deeply saddened by the loss of precious human lives in the bus accident in Iran.”

Pakistan’s team in Iran is helping to deal with the crash. Their ambassador, Muhammad Mudassir Tipu, is talking to Iranian officials to figure things out. So, the pilgrims were heading to this huge event called Arbaeen. It’s like a big memorial for Imam Hussein, who’s super important in Islam. He died in a battle over 1,000 years ago, and it still makes a lot of people really sad. Every year, people from all over the world visit his tomb, which is under this gorgeous golden dome

During this time, the city of Karbala gets decorated with lights, flowers, and other decorations.

The people of Karbala are known for their hospitality towards Arbaeen pilgrims, keeping a long tradition alive.

Last year, a crazy 25 million people went to the Arbaeen pilgrimage! That’s even more than the 2.5 million people who went to the Hajj in Mecca. It’s literally the biggest pilgrimage in the world!
