New Wave of Cyber attacks on Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge: How to Stay Safe?

Cyber attacks on Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge are becoming more common, putting users’ personal data at risk. Bad people are tricking users of Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge with fake add-ons to steal their personal information.

Singapore’s safety team is warning about a big hack that’s already hurt 300,000 people. It can put bad stuff on your computer and take your private info.

Singaporean cyber security experts say the attackers are going after people who want to download extensions for Chrome and Edge. These attackers create fake versions of popular extensions and trick users into downloading them.

Even if you have antivirus software, these fake extensions can sneak past it. According to ReasonLab, a cybersecurity firm, these fake extensions are hard to delete and might come back even if you remove them. Right now, it’s unclear what data has been stolen from the users who were attacked.

How to Stay Safe From These Cyber attacks?

There’s an easy way to stay safe from these attacks. When you want to download an extension, search for it directly in the official app store of Chrome or Edge, instead of using Google. Also, make sure to check if the developer is trustworthy before downloading anything.
