iOS 18 Activation Lock
Apple is adding a cool new feature to stop iPhone theft! The new iOS version that will have this feature has already been announced.
With iOS 18, Apple is going to make sure stolen iPhone parts can’t be reused. The new feature, called Activation Lock, will lock important parts like the battery, camera, and screen to the owner’s Apple account. If someone tries to use these stolen parts in another iPhone, it will ask for the Apple Account password to check if it’s legit.
iPhone parts now encrypted
The Activation Lock in iOS 18 makes sure that all important iPhone parts are linked to the Apple account, not just the phone itself. So, if someone tries to take parts from one iPhone and put them in another, they’ll need the original owner’s Apple Account password. This helps stop thieves from reusing parts from stolen iPhones.
This new feature is meant to boost security by making stolen iPhones less valuable and harder to use. iOS 18 is coming out on September 16, giving iPhone users some extra protection. For now, Activation Lock will only work on iPhones, not iPads.
