iPhone 16 Pro A18 Pro vs M1 Chip: A18 Pro Processor Performance Revealed

iPhone 16 Pro A18 Pro vs M1 Chip!

Well, the benchmark tests for the A18 Pro processors used on the iPhone 16 Pro models are out, and boy, do they show something super cool: the A18 Pro is faster than the M1 chip. That means iPhones can give you computer-level performance now.

Last week, Apple introduced the iPhone 16 series at an event. They brought some awesome new features. But probably one of the biggest changes was the introduction of A18 processors.

It was announced that the iPhone 16 Pro models use the high-end A18 Pro processor. Well, a few tests were done on how strong this chip really is, and the results are impressive.

In Geekbench tests, it scored 3429 in single-core and 8790 in multi-core. That means it is around 20% faster than the A17 Pro in the iPhone 15 Pro and around 30-35% faster than the A16 Bionic in the iPhone 15.

Apple also said the A18 Pro-with a 6-core CPU comprising 2 high-performance and 4 efficiency cores-is 15% faster than last year’s A17 Pro in terms of CPU. It boasts 20% better GPU performance, using 20% less power, hence more efficient. Tests confirm Apple’s claims.

But the really surprising part isn’t just the comparison with the A17 Pro. The somewhat shocking fact is that the A18 Pro actually outpaces the M1 chip found in MacBooks and iPads made by Apple. According to tests shared by 9to5Mac, an M1 processor scores 8351 in multi-core, while an A18 Pro scores 8790. That means the iPhone 16 Pro processor is about 5% faster.

Sure, it’s not exactly fair to pit a brand-new chip against one that’s 4 years old, but it’s still mind-boggling to consider that an iPhone can punch above its class to outperform a “powerful” laptop that’s still sold today. It really speaks volumes to how much better Apple’s silicon has gotten.
