Starlink Emergency Service will help in emergencies. Elon Musk shared that Starlink, SpaceX’s new technology, will offer free emergency service to all phones during emergencies. This is mainly for areas where regular mobile networks don’t work.
Musk said that with Starlink, people will be able to make emergency calls even without paying, and they’ll get alerts in places without network coverage across the US. This service is all about making sure people stay connected during emergencies, using satellites to reach mobile phones and the internet.
This could really help save lives in remote areas, especially when people are stuck far from cities. Musk mentioned that this service might work like the Emergency SOS feature on Apple’s newer iPhones. The plan is to make this feature available worldwide, but it will depend on getting approval from each country’s government.
SpaceX is currently trying to get approval from the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to start Starlink service for mobile phones this winter with T-Mobile. However, companies like AT&T and Verizon are against it, worried that it might mess with radio signals. Despite this, SpaceX is pushing for FCC approval and dismissing its competitors’ concerns.
