In today’s world victim hood is glamorised to such an extent that now “victimhood chic” has become a trend. It has emerged so much that it is difficult to differentiate between genuine suffering and preformative victimisation these days.
It is all about someone faking their sufferings just to seek attention and validation etc. It impacts society as a whole.
Victimhood comes in different forms such as posting about fake personal struggles or displaying victimisation on social media. It is done just for the sake of fame and empathy.
It has resulted into various questions and debates about the dilution of genuine victim experiences. Victim hood is glorified as fashion these days creating a society where victim hood is valued more than strength, courage and personal growth. It has given rise to perpetuating a victim mentality. These are the fake attention seekers.
It has taken the courage of individuals to fight challenges and instead of facing hardships now they find peace in crying and ranting about it on social media. They find peace in being a victim. A fake Victim!
To eradicate this trend of victimhood chic it’s very important to develop a sense of understanding and to support those who are genuinely suffering and have experienced a trauma. We need to value authenticity and shift the focus of society towards genuine healing and growth.
Victimhood chic can provide temporary attention but effects of it are long term and natural. By not supporting this we can encourage support and empowerment for those who have experienced real suffering. It is very important for a better and compassionate society.
