T20 cricket is ruining the game, yep, you read that right. But how? You might ask. Well, the reason is all about money. England, Australia, and India’s cricket boards have the cash backing them up. They’re the ones with the money to pull off big events like The Hundred. But smaller boards like the PCB (Pakistan Cricket Board) or others around the world couldn’t create something like that, even if they wanted to. Sure, events like these can make money, but they also cost a lot.
In those three countries, they can market these events through TV and other ways to make them financially successful. But can the rest of the world do that? Not really. The PCB and others are just trying to keep up with the giants like the IPL, BBL, and T20 Blast. They’re playing catch-up in the T20 world.
Cricket’s foundation is Test Cricket. Some might say that’s just an opinion, but I’m saying it’s a fact. Players like Tendulkar, Kohli, Smith, and Root have all been shaped by Test cricket, making them better players overall.
And if you notice, those players are from the richer countries. They get to play more than just a two-match Test series. But most of the time, their cricket boards choose not to organize longer Test series because it takes up time that could be used for T20, where the big money is.
It’s fine that T20 is doing its thing, but it’s sad that this shorter format is overshadowing the others. Cricket fans can love all the formats equally! It doesn’t have to be like this.
So, it was my Personal Analysis on T20 Cricket. What do you think? Let me know in the comments section!
