Well, Qualcomm is making a new processor called Snapdragon 8 Gen 4. It might come out in October. Some information about it has leaked. It looks like it will be faster, use less power, and be better at artificial intelligence. Let’s see what’s new
The new Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 processor will come in two types. The regular type will be used in high-end phones from brands like Xiaomi, Vivo, OPPO, and others. The SM8750P, which is the performance version, will only be in Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra.
What’s New with Snapdragon 8 Gen 4?
The main focus of Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 is on being more efficient. It’s built using TSMC’s 3nm process and has Qualcomm’s special Oryon CPU cores. The chip also improves in AI with something called an eNPU (DSP AI Accelerator) and Qualcomm Sensing Hub (QSH) that help run AI tasks all the time on your device. This means AI stuff on your phone will work faster and smoother.
The full details will be officially announced at Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Summit on October 21, 2024. Xiaomi is expected to be the first to launch a phone with this new processor in China in October.
