In a very interesting Sri Lanka vs India 3rd ODI, Sri Lanka defeated India in a one-sided clash to take an unassailable lead in the ODI series, whilst recording their first win over them at home since 1997. Sri Lanka vs India 3rd ODI match in Colombo, they won by 110 runs. This is India’s only fourth defeat of over 100 runs in last 10 years.
Sri Lanka opener, Avishka Fernando, scored 96 runs scoring an unbeaten fifty to help his side reach a decent total of 248-7. And then, with the ball, came their left-arm spinner, Dunith Wellalage and India collapsed like ninepins to be skittled out for 138 with the bowler bagging himself a five-fer conceding just 27 runs.
Sri Lanka won the series 2-0 with this victory. They won the second match comfortably by 32 runs, and no one was victorious in that first-match which resulted in a tie and was a cracker. Sri Lanka last won an ODI series against India in 1997. Post that, India was undefeated in the next 13 series winning all but 2 drawn.
Even though India won the T20 series against Sri Lanka 3-0 last month, this series win was special for Sri Lanka. It’s their first series win under their new captain, Charith Asalanka, and interim coach Sanath Jayasuriya, who stepped in after their old coach left following a bad T20 World Cup.

The architects behind an unforgettable series triumph
Asalanka was really happy and said that the team’s mood was great, especially with the new coach making some good changes that the players enjoyed.
Sri Lanka batted first after winning the toss and reached 171-1, thanks to Fernando’s 102-ball innings. But after he got out, they lost 5 wickets for just 28 runs. Still, Kusal Mendis, their wicketkeeper, scored 59 runs off 82 balls and helped them get to a solid score on a tricky pitch.
For India, things didn’t go well. Their captain, Rohit Sharma, made 35 runs, and Virat Kohli, who’s a big star, scored only 20. Both of them got out to Wellalage, and India kept losing wickets, getting bowled out in just 26.1 overs.
