Barcelona vs Real Madrid: Barcelona Triumphs Over Real Madrid 2-1 in Thrilling Preseason El Clasico

Barcelona vs Real Madrid has always been a thriller. Barcelona won 2-1 against Real Madrid in a preseason game on Saturday at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. Pau Victor scored both goals for Barcelona.

Thunderstorms postponed the game for more than an hour. The break quickly turned into a rain delay at that point, temporarily halting those semifinal matches after 11 minutes of play. When the action did finally return, Victor kept doing what he had been, he played really well and demonstrated why coach Hansi Flick has to consider him in his plans for next year. Having already registered a goal against Manchester City on Tuesday, he did the same here.

Victor scored his first goal in the 42nd minute. Álex Valle sent a cross from the right, and Robert Lewandowski directed the ball towards Victor, who headed it into the net.

After a short five-minute break at halftime because of the weather delay, Victor scored again in the 54th minute. Valle crossed the ball, and Victor managed to stretch and push it past Madrid’s goalkeeper, Thibaut Courtois.

Madrid tried to come back with Vinícius Júnior making his first appearance of the preseason. Nico Paz scored for Madrid by heading in a corner from Arda Güler with eight minutes left in the game.

Barcelona held on to win, making it four wins out of four in El Clasico games played in the U.S. They sent a strong message as they aim to dethrone the Spanish and European champions in the new season.

Both teams were missing several star players due to summer international tournaments. Barcelona didn’t have Spain’s Euro 2024 winners Lamine Yamal and Ferran Torres, and Ronald Araújo, Pedri, Gavi, Frenkie de Jong, and Ansu Fati were out due to injuries.

Real Madrid is still waiting for Kylian Mbappé to make his first appearance. England star Jude Bellingham also missed the tour.

Both teams will finish their U.S. tours on Friday, with Barcelona playing AC Milan in Baltimore and Real Madrid facing Chelsea in Charlotte. The LaLiga season starts in two weeks.
