Maharaj and Rabada Shine as South Africa Gets Ready to Push for a Win: Windies vs South Africa Day 4

It was yet another interesting day at the Cricket sector between Windies and South Africa,Windies vs South Africa Day 4 was a thriller. What looked like a boring draw in the Test match between the two teams might actually turn into something exciting on the last day, if the weather allows. South Africa really stepped up on the fourth day, even though they only had about two hours of play. They took a 124-run lead after bowling out West Indies for 233 and then quickly added 30 more runs in just five overs to set themselves up for a possible win.

Rain has been messing up this Test match from the start. It rained so much today that it seemed like there wouldn’t be any play at all. But after a six-hour delay, the game finally started at Queen’s Park Oval, and South Africa took control. They made West Indies collapse, losing 6 wickets for just 60 runs in 16.1 overs, and by the end of the day, South Africa was already batting again.

It’s pretty amazing that so much happened considering all the rain delays, especially on the first and fourth days. Only 15 overs were played on day one, and just 30 were planned for day four, but the action was still pretty intense.Windies vs South Africa Day 4

The day started with South Africa 13 overs away from the second new ball, and they kicked things off with spin from both ends. Aiden Markram started the day’s play, but Jason Holder quickly put pressure on him by hitting the first ball for four. Holder kept going, smashing Markram over mid-off and towards deep midwicket, but Markram got his revenge by knocking over Holder’s off stump in his tenth over. Then, Keshav Maharaj got Joshua da Silva caught at mid-on, taking his fourth wicket of the innings.

Maharaj almost got his fifth wicket in his next over when Kemar Roach popped up a chance to David Bedingham at silly point, but the ball just missed Bedingham’s hand.

South Africa took the new ball right away but stuck with the spinners. Markram bowled eight overs before Kagiso Rabada came in and took his 292nd Test wicket with his fourth ball. Bedingham made no mistake at first slip, catching Kavem Hodge. Rabada kept things tight and took down West Indies’ lower order. Gudakesh Motie edged a full delivery to Markram at second slip, and Roach was given out lbw after being struck on the front pad. He reviewed it, but the ball-tracking showed it was out.

Maharaj kept bowling and only got into trouble when Jomel Warrican decided to go after him. Warrican hit Maharaj for two sixes in the same over, one over his head and the other over long-on. Jayden Seales also took on Maharaj, hitting him for four over midwicket. Maharaj didn’t get his fifth wicket, though, because Lungi Ngidi came in and bowled Seales to take his first wicket of the match. Maharaj ended up bowling 40 overs straight across two days.

With more rain expected on Sunday, South Africa wanted to score quickly. Markram and de Zorzi went out and showed intent, being busy at the crease and running well between the wickets. Markram looked classy with back-to-back cover drives in Roach’s second over. In the last over of the day, de Zorzi hit Seales through point for four. Two balls later, he edged one to first slip, but Hodge hesitated and dropped the catch, making it a rough day for West Indies.
